one palette three looks: Colourpop Dream St.

Last Christmas, I was browsing makeup online (as I often do), and was going through different lipstick shades on the Colourpop website. I had heard a lot about how the lipsticks were really comparable to Kylie Cosmetics, but way cheaper. They were having a deal that if you spent a certain amount, you could get a free Golden State of Mind palette. Well, I love a good deal, so I ending up buying some lipsticks, some brushes, and the Dream St palette in order to get another free eyeshadow palette (yes, I have a problem. I'm so aware).

Both of these palettes were pretty impressive, but Dream St ended up being the more versatile palette. This was made in a collaboration with YouTuber Kathleen Lights, who I had never heard of, but I've since watched a few of her videos. Dream St has a combination of matte, satin, and shimmery shades. There's some great neutral brown and golden colors, as well as some really fun shimmers and blues. There's a lot to do with this palette, so I was super excited to dive into three different looks for this blog!

A quick note: you NEED primer for these shadows. When I first ordered the palette, it was when I was sitting on a couch recovering from surgery. I played around with the palette just for fun, and it creased like crazy. I don't even have particularly oily eyelids! But with my holy grail primer, the shades stay all day and look great!

The packaging on this palette is MAGNIFICENT. Seriously, it's absolutely stunning.

My first look was this fun, shimmery bronze smoky eye. Actually when I finished, I realized this is a really great autumnal look. This whole palette in fact would look great in the fall. I mean, it looks great in the summer too, but when the weather cools down, I think I'm definitely going to be leaning into these colors a lot.

  1. After priming, I started by blending Potion into the crease. This color was a bit more orangey than it looked in the pan.
  2. I went in with Elfish and blended that into the crease. I wanted to darken the color up a bit. I also patted the color into the outer third of my lid, since I wanted a bit of a smoky effect.
  3. Next I took Star Dust and applied this all over the lid. I love a good bit of shimmer!
  4. Next I took Sweet Dreams and patted that on the inner third of the lid to brighten some of the color. This is definitely my favorite color in the palette, I love it's rose gold shimmer.
  5. Finally, I finished by highlighting the inner corner and underneath the brow with Moony. This satin finish is the perfect highlight!
  6. Finally, I used Urban Decay's Glide On Eye Pencil on my lash line and upper water line (I've used this liner so much, it's almost down to the stub!). I finished with my mascara.
This look was really bronzey and glowy, so I went in a little hard with the bronzer and highlighter. I don't think it looks like a lot in the photos, but when I first put it on I realized I my have used too heavy a hand. Thank goodness, I'm a champion blender! I decided on a nude lip since I didn't want to distract from the eyes.

The shimmers in this palette are so fun that I really wanted play around with them; after all, I've been really trying to play up the glow this summer. I had a lot of fun in my previous post doing a cut crease, and this time I tried it all on my own without a tutorial (although I've watched quite a few videos, and I now understand the concept better than I did before)

  1. So I started with a bunch of crease blending. After priming, I went in with Shooting Star and blended it away into the crease.
  2. Next, I blended Elfish into the crease and the outer third of my lid. This darkened the look up a bit and added more dimension.
  3. Then, I went in with my Nars Creamy Concealer to cut the crease. This method allows for you to paint over your lid with a concealer so that whatever color you put on the lid will really pop. With my eye shape, I have a lot of eyelid, so I actually covered up a bit of my crease blending. I think next time I try this, I'll add more product into the crease to make it really dramatic.
  4. On top of the newly cut crease, I went in with Sweet Dreams, a gorgeous rose gold shimmer. I adore rose gold, so I just packed this on to really make my eyes shine.
  5. I then took Moony and used that as an inner corner highlight.
  6. Finally, I did a winged liner with my Stila Stay All Day liquid liner. I just bought this, and I'm already obsessed. It's so easy to use, and I really struggle with creating a good wing. I can see why this is a cult classic product. Then I used my current favorite mascara
This shimmer is so beautiful and I adored how it turned out! I went out to dinner with some really good friends, and she was really wowed by my eye makeup, which is one of the best compliments a friend can give! I wanted to make sure my skin look glowy, so I applied highlighter, blush and bronzer (which came in a set from Tarte). I adore the Tarte Amazonian clay blushes and really want more shades! Hit me up if you want to help a girl out.

For the last look, I wanted to go big and use the gorgeous blues in this palette. So I went straight to the source, and followed along with this Kathleen Lights tutorial. I'd never watched her videos before, but I like her a lot after watching this video. She has a bunch of tutorials featuring this palette, which I like because this palette has so much going on, there's a lot of looks you can try. This one was the most dramatic, and I really wanted to be super daring!

I adore how this turned out! This look is so dramatic, and I think it looks very flattering with my eyes. I did this look while I was recovering from surgery (the screws were removed from my ankle!), so I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go! However, I can't wait to try this look again when I'm having an evening out with friends.

I followed Kathleen's tutorial, I just didn't have a blue liner for the bottom waterline. Other than that, the eyes were all from her instruction! I finished the eyes with my Stila liquid liner and my Bobbi Brown mascara. Then I used my Tarte highlighter and the Benefit Hoola bronzer. Lastly, I applied the Fenty gloss bomb because the shine perfectly complimented the sparkly shadows.

I'm really happy with this purchase! There's a lot of versatility in this palette for both simple looks, and more dramatic looks. I'm definitely looking forward to doing more experimenting with these shades, especially when fall comes and the weather cools down. These colors are definitely perfect for fall, so if you're looking for a new palette and don't want to drop $50 definitely consider this palette!

It was 93 degrees when I took the photos for the last look.... UNACCEPTABLE
